M11 Kapsali-Agios Ioannis Agriolies-Kapsali: location in Greece

M11 Kapsali-Agios Ioannis Agriolies-Kapsali is part of the local hiking network in OpenStreetMap. The line mapped in OpenStreetMap is 14.7 km long inside Greece (the length of the line, not a walking time). It lies in the regional unit of Islands, Attica (Attica). The mapped line is a circuit: it has no free ends, or its ends lie less than 1.5 km apart. The OpenStreetMap tags give the start as "Kapsali" and the end as "Kapsali" (as the mappers wrote them, unchecked). Within 1 km of the line, in a straight line, there are 3 places with a page (Kapsali, Kythera and Spilies). Operator according to OpenStreetMap: Kythera Trails.

The route and its length

The length is the sum of the mapped ways of the OpenStreetMap relation, measured along the line and only inside Greece. It is not a walking time and not a difficulty.

There is no elevation profile: the site has no elevation model fine enough to draw one along the route.

Waymark in OpenStreetMap (osmc:symbol "blue:blue:white_lower:M11"): a blue background and the text «M11». The description is partial; the code is given as the mappers wrote it. We do not know whether the marking is on the ground today.

Towns and villages along the route

Places with a page on this site where the mapped line passes within 1 km of the place's point (in a straight line). It does not mean the trail enters the place or that it has lodging, food or water. Heights are the ele tag in OpenStreetMap, where there is one.

Mountains, huts, sights and protected areas

Distances are in a straight line from the mapped line, not walking distances; peaks, huts, sights and lakes are within 2 km. This page does not describe climbs, difficulty or conditions. The length inside a Natura 2000 site was measured on the line thinned to about 100 m.

Daylight

Sunrise and sunset at the middle of the route for the 15th of each month, in Greek time (Europe/Athens). Calculated with the standard solar-geometry formula for a flat horizon; terrain and cloud are not taken into account. In deep gorges or in the shadow of mountains dusk comes earlier.

Trail safety

In an emergency call 112, the European emergency number. For information, training and the mountaineering clubs, the federation is the Hellenic Mountaineering and Climbing Federation (ΕΟΟΑ).

The line of the route was drawn by volunteers in OpenStreetMap and may be incomplete or out of date. We do not know whether the trail is open, waymarked or passable today, or what the conditions are. This page gives no directions for the route or for climbs, no difficulty grade, no walking time and no weather forecast. Ask the operator, a local club or the forest service before you set out.

How the numbers were counted

The trails are the hiking routes (route=hiking) of OpenStreetMap (ODbL, Geofabrik snapshot of 24 Sep 2026). A trail has a page when it has a name or a ref (a route with only a local number and no name needs an operator and a website), at least 4 km of line in Greece, and two of: at least 3 places with a page near the line, a mountain hut, a peak with a page, a Natura 2000 site, a website in the OpenStreetMap tags. Relations that are the same trail in sections (same super-relation, the same E4 or E6 ref, the same name and operator) are joined into one page and a shared stretch is counted once. There are at most 100 pages, ranked by network level (international, national, regional, local), then length, number of places and whether there is a website or operator; at most four trails of one numbered series.

The length is the sum of the lengths of the relation's ways, worked out on the original OpenStreetMap nodes, inside the boundaries of Greek municipalities (a way is split at the vertices of the line thinned to about 100 m). Units and municipalities are decided by the middle of each piece of line. The places, peaks, sights and lakes are pages of this site and the distance is the shortest straight line from their point to the line. Natura 2000 membership is whether the middle of each piece falls inside the Ministry's boundary (YPEN geoportal).

The website is the one OpenStreetMap lists for the route; we link it without having read or checked it. Trails are mapped by volunteers and are not an official trail register; the network (international, national, regional, local) is as the mappers tagged it. No durations, difficulty or elevation profile are shown.
