The site does not collect personal data. This page says exactly what is stored and who sees what.
No cookies, no accounts, no analytics
The site sets no cookies. There are no user accounts and no server-side tracking of any kind. A report is calculated entirely in your own browser. The exact point you tap is not sent to us: your browser downloads the data files for the surrounding area, the same files for anyone looking at that area, and works out the report locally.
What is stored on your device, and why
Four things live in your browser's local storage: your chosen language, your chosen light or dark theme, whether you have already seen the introduction screen, and your travel list (up to 30 places, with their names and coordinates). Each is written only as a direct result of something you did (switching language, switching theme, dismissing the intro, saving a place, or opening a shared travel link), which is why no cookie-consent banner is shown: nothing is stored unless your own action stores it.
A service worker also keeps a copy of the site's code, and of the map data it has already downloaded, in your browser's Cache Storage, so the map loads faster and works offline. This is strictly necessary for the service you are asking for, is not used to recognise you, and never leaves your device. You can clear all of it from your browser's settings (site data).
Third parties that see a request
The site and its data files are hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., which acts as our hosting provider and content delivery network (CDN). Like any host, it processes your IP address and your browser's requests in order to serve them and to protect the site from abuse. We do not use its visitor analytics.
Two further external services are used to make the map and search work, and each receives requests as a normal consequence of using them: OpenFreeMap (map tiles) and Photon (place search and reverse geocoding). Photon receives whatever you type into the search box and, each time you tap a point on the map, the coordinates of that point, so it can return an address. Both services see your IP address, as any web request does. Neither service is told who you are, and neither receives anything beyond what is needed to answer that one request.
Sponsored links, where there are any, are plain links: the partner learns that you came from us only if you click one, and is not told the place you were looking at.
If this changes
Adding visitor analytics of any kind, or anything that would let us or a third party recognise a returning visitor, would require asking for consent first, with a banner, before it happens. Nothing like that exists today.
Your rights
Because no personal data is collected or stored by us, there is little to request, correct or delete on our side; the data used to build a report belongs to the public sources listed on the Sources and licences page. If you believe this page is wrong about something, or you have any privacy question, contact [email protected]. You may also contact your own country's data protection authority, for example the Hellenic Data Protection Authority if you are in Greece.
