Karpenisi Ski Centre
Karpenisi Ski Centre lies in the municipality of Karpenisi (regional unit Evrytania, Central Greece). OpenStreetMap maps 5 lifts and 18 pistes, with 6.9 km of piste measured on OpenStreetMap's lines (not the centre's official figure). The nearest peak with a page: Tymfristos (2,315 m). Part of the mapped lifts or pistes lies inside the Natura 2000 site Oros Tymfristos (Velouchi) (GR2430001). The nearest town with a page is Karpenisi, 3.5 km away in a straight line.
What it is
What the map and open data show, with the source of each row. The page name is based on the name OpenStreetMap gives the winter-sports area (landuse=winter_sports), the name OpenStreetMap gives the ski centre's mapped point and the label of Wikidata item Q17640406.
| Item | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Kind | Ski centre: the lifts and pistes of one area | OpenStreetMap; lifts and pistes inside the winter-sports area or within 2,000 m of it, or within 2,000 m of each other, belong to one centre |
| Lifts | 5 | OpenStreetMap, aerialway tag |
| Pistes | 18 | OpenStreetMap, piste:type tag |
| Piste length | 6.9 km | measured on OpenStreetMap's lines (downhill, cross-country and sled); not the centre's official figure |
| Operator | – | not recorded |
| Website | – | not recorded |
| Wikidata item | Q17640406 | Wikidata, CC0; it is a ski resort |
Opening times and season, prices and snow conditions change and we do not know them; this page does not state them. Ask the operator before a visit.
Lifts by kind
The lifts are lines tagged aerialway in OpenStreetMap. Each length was measured along the lift's mapped line; it is not the lift's official length or vertical rise. 3.3 km in all.
| Kind | Number | Named | Mapped length |
|---|---|---|---|
| chair lifts | 4 | 4 | 2.6 km |
| drag lifts and T-bars | 1 | 1 | 0.6 km |
| Name | Kind | Mapped length |
|---|---|---|
| Anemos 1 | chair lift | 0.9 km |
| Anemos 2 | chair lift | 0.7 km |
| Thiseas | platter lift | 0.6 km |
| Konstantinos Chouliaras | chair lift | 0.7 km |
| Takis Flegas | chair lift | 0.4 km |
Pistes by difficulty
The pistes are lines tagged piste:type in OpenStreetMap and the difficulty is what the mappers wrote (piste:difficulty), not the centre's own grading. The length was measured on OpenStreetMap's lines: a piste mapped twice is counted twice, and a piste mapped as an area (no line) is not counted.
| Difficulty | Pistes | Mapped length |
|---|---|---|
| no difficulty on the map | 18 | 6.9 km |
| Name | Kind | Difficulty | Mapped length |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sympetheriako Peak | downhill | – | 1.2 km |
Heights and the mountain
Only heights that a source gives are shown. Most lifts carry no height tag on the map, so no vertical drop of the pistes is given.
| Item | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Elevation in Wikidata | 1,840 m | Wikidata, Q17640406, with a reference |
| Nearest mountain with a page | Tymfristos, 2,315 m | Wikidata; 970 m from the page's point |
Where it lies and which settlements are near
The municipality comes from the municipal boundaries of OpenStreetMap. Distances are in a straight line, not driving distances; on a mountain the road is usually much longer.
The page's point is in the municipality of Karpenisi.
Nearest villages and towns
| Place | Kind | Distance | Height (OSM) | Difference to the highest tagged height |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Karpenisi | town | 3.5 km | 961 m | 879 m |
| Agia Triada | village | 4.8 km | 770 m | 1,070 m |
| Gorianades | village | 5.2 km | 790 m | 1,050 m |
| Koryschades | village | 6.2 km | 940 m | 900 m |
| Neo Mikro Chorio | village | 13.0 km | 797 m | 1,043 m |
The height difference is from 1,840 m (Wikidata) and gives an order of magnitude, not a driving time or distance.

Daylight
Sunrise and sunset at the point the map shows, for the 15th of each month, in Greek time (Europe/Athens). Calculated with the standard solar-geometry formula for a flat horizon; terrain and cloud are not taken into account. On north-facing slopes or under a summit the shade comes earlier.

What this page does not say
This page states no opening dates, hours, prices, tickets, snow conditions or season. These change every year and only the operator knows them. The lifts and pistes shown are those volunteers have mapped in OpenStreetMap: some may be missing, removed or not running this season.
How the facts were put together
The lifts and pistes are OpenStreetMap lines (ODbL, Geofabrik snapshot 24 Sep 2026, processed 10 Oct 2026): lifts tagged aerialway (chair, drag, T-bar, platter, gondola, cable car, magic carpet, rope tow) and pistes tagged piste:type (downhill, cross-country, sled). A centre groups those inside the winter-sports area (landuse=winter_sports) or within 2,000 m of it; those that belong to no area are grouped when a point of one line lies within 2,000 m of a point of another. A centre has a page when it has a name that a source supports (the map or Wikidata), a point in a Greek municipality and at least 2 lifts or 2 km of mapped piste.
The length of each lift and piste is the length of its line on the map, worked out on the original OpenStreetMap nodes; it is neither the official length nor the vertical drop. The difficulty is the mappers' piste:difficulty tag. A height appears only where a station or lift end carries an ele tag, or a Wikidata item has an elevation. The operator and website appear only where OpenStreetMap writes them; we never open an operator's website.
Wikidata (Q17640406, CC0, 10 Oct 2026) gives labels, Wikipedia links and an elevation where there is one; we copy no text from it.
The towns, mountains, trails and airports are pages of this site; distances are in a straight line, not road kilometres. The mountain is the nearest peak with a page within 10 km of the centre's point, huts are within 10 km and a trail appears when its line passes within 4 km. The page's point is the mapped lift end or piste start nearest the middle of the centre.
