Petsofas: location in Greece

Petsofas is a mountain, 255 m high (OpenStreetMap). It lies in the municipality of Sitia (regional unit Lasithi, Crete), on the island of Crete. It lies inside the Natura 2000 site Voreioanatoliko Akro Kritis: Dionysades, Elasa Kai Chersonisos Sidero (Akra Mavro Mouri - Vai - Akra Plakas) Kai Thalassia Zoni (GR4320006). The nearest village with a page is Chiona, 1.4 km away in a straight line.

How the numbers were counted

The height is Wikidata's (property P2044, 9 Oct 2026) where it has one, otherwise the ele tag of the natural=peak node in OpenStreetMap (9 Oct 2026). The rule is the same for every peak: a Wikidata value with a reference first, then a Wikidata value without one, then OpenStreetMap. Where both sources have a value and they differ by more than 50 m, the page says so and shows both. Wikidata has no value for this peak; the OpenStreetMap ele tag is used, which we have not checked. We did not measure the height.

The massif and the prominence are Wikidata's (P4552, P2660). The name and the links to Wikipedia are Wikidata's (CC0); we copy no text from Wikipedia. A mountain or peak has a page when it has a name and a height, lies in a Greek municipality, has a Wikipedia article, a known prominence or a height of at least 700 m, and has something near it (a settlement, sight, beach, another peak, a hut or a route). Peaks are ranked by the number of editions of the Wikidata item, then prominence, then height, and the list is capped at 800 pages (it has 579 now).

The huts, shelters and hiking routes are OpenStreetMap's (ODbL, Geofabrik snapshot 24 Sep 2026). Settlements, municipal boundaries and island outlines are also OpenStreetMap's. The Natura 2000 membership is whether the summit's point lies inside the Ministry's boundary (YPEN geoportal).
